Responsibilities

The Charge Nurse, assumes shift responsibility (i.e., 8 hours, 10 hours, 12 hours) for the unit’s administrative policies, clinical standards, and personnel.  The Charge Nurse has strong clinical experience and acts as a resource; leads the coordination of patient care for assigned shift(s); and directs the work of healthcare personnel.  In addition, the Charge Nurse performs the duties of a Registered Nurse (RN).

Qualifications

Education Background

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 

Licensure, Registration, Certification

  • A current Registered Nurse License for the State of Washington is required.
  • Certification in specialty preferred.
  • ACLS, PALS required

Special Training/Skills 

  • May vary depending on nursing unit specialty.
  • Supervisory skills.
  • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit/department.

Work Experience

  • Minimum three years' experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care and/or PACU experience.
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Job does require taking call after hours.
