    Responsibilities

    As a member of the HR team, the Payroll Specialist performs complex payroll duties, acts as an expert technical resource, and trains/provides guidance to less experienced staff. Routinely performs assigned portions of the payroll process and backs-up the Payroll Manager in her/his absence. Also is responsible for processing terminations and employee master file changes.

    Qualifications

    Education Background

    • Bachelors degree in HR or accounting or related field, preferred.

    Licensure, Registration, Certification

    • None required.

    Special Training/Skills

    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (in writing and verbally).
    • Demonstrated knowledge of business software, timekeeping software, and HRIS/Payroll.
    • Experience with UltiPro and Kronos strongly preferred.
    • Strong knowledge of taxes, regulations, and laws regarding payroll.
    • Demonstrated and excellent skills in teamwork, analysis and problem-solving, and customer relations.
    • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a diverse group of employees/customers.
    • Computer and math skills required.

    Work Experience

    • 3-5 years previous payroll or accounting experience required, healthcare and/or union payroll experience strongly preferred.

    Physical Abilities

    • Must be able to be positioned at a desk and computer for long periods of time.

    Physical Demand Level: Sedentary

    In an 8-hour workday, must be able to-

    Lift / Carry 10 pounds occasionally

    Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Squat, Kneel, Crawl, Climb and Reach above shoulders
