    The incumbent functions as an expert in clinical informatics, planning, developing, supporting and evaluating systems, applications, tools, processes and structures that assist clinical staff to manage and use data effectively in the care of patients/clients.


    Education Background 

    • Bachelor Degree in applicable clinical area of practice required.
    • Bachelors Degree in Nursing required if assigned to nursing informatics systems.
    • Masters Degree in Nursing, Clinical Informatics, Business or related field preferred

    Licensure, Registration, Certification

    • Washington State licensure in applicable clinical area of practice required.
    • Washington State nursing license required if assigned to nursing informatics systems.
    • Certification in informatics preferred.

    Special Training/Skills

    • Informatics Certification Courses/ Program completion preferred.
    • Project management skills.
    • Ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical writing and interpersonal skills and ability to work through issues in a professional manner
    • Presentation skills
    • Microsoft Office skills:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook.
    • Demonstrates adult education/training skills with a variety of audiences and computer skill levels.
    • Ability to build and maintain positive, supportive working relationships and be a strong team player.
    • Demonstrates ability to achieve consensus and make decisions in group settings

    Work Experience 

    • Requires at least five years of clinical experience in an inpatient and/or ambulatory health care setting.
    • Five years of supervisory/management experience in a health care setting strongly preferred. 
    • Three years of IT experience preferred
    • Two years of clinical informatics experience providing a leadership role in implementing and supporting clinical systems preferred.

    Physical Abilities

    • Able to sit for extended periods of time.  Able to operate a computer.
    • Must be able to handle a fluctuating workload
    • This job requires ability to communicate clearly in English (verbal and written) with all stakeholders (staff members, clinicians, practitioners and the general public).

    Physical Demand Level:  Sedentary

    In an 8-hour workday, must be able to-


    Lift / Carry 10 pounds occasionally


    As required, must be able to-

    Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Squat, Kneel, Crawl, Climb and Reach above shoulders

    Push and Pull

    Perform fine motor functions

    Must possess functional vision, hearing, and speech in order to communicate effectively with clients, client advocates, and staff.
