  • Responsibilities

    JOB SUMMARY

    Supervises a shift  of one or more technical departments of the Laboratory (such as Chemistry, Microbiology, Hematology). Organizes workflow and manages personnel and supplies to ensure efficient functioning and cost effectiveness of the laboratory.

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENT

    • Education Background
    1. Baccalaureate degree in medical technology; or
    2. Baccalaureate degree in science plus completion of a accredited or approved school of medical technology ; or
    3. At the discretion of the Lab Director, alternative routes that combine education, training and experience may be considered, if the combination satisfies requirements as a “technical supervisor” (as applicable to the individual’s job responsibilities) under State of Washington and Federal regulations.

    • Licensure, Registration, Certification

     

    1. Current technologist–level certification with ASCP or equivalent ; or
    2. Satisfies requirements as a “technical supervisor” (as applicable to the individual’s job responsibilities) under State of Washington and Federal regulations.
    3. Maintains a valid Washington Driver’s License and clean record if required to drive.

     

     

    • Special Training/Skills 

     

    • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and condition of the patients served on assigned unit/department.
    • Work Experience

     

    1. Individuals with bachelor degree in medical technology (or bachelor degree in science plus completion of accredited school of medical technology): Minimum of four years previous laboratory experience required.
    2. Individuals without a bachelor degree in medical technology: At the discretion of the Lab Director, alternative routes that combine education, training and experience may be considered, if the combination satisfies requirements as “general supervisor” (as applicable to the individual’s job responsibilities) under State of Washington and Federal regulations.
    3. At least one year of previous supervisory or lead experience is strongly preferred.
    4. Current MT ( ASCP) credentials.
