    Responsibilities

    JOB SUMMARY

    Incumbent performs physical therapy treatments and related duties as prescribed by an MD, DO, DDS, PA, ARNP, podiatrist, chiropractor or naturapathic physician. Assigned patients may be hospitals inpatient, outpatient or reside in nursing homes.

     ( PLEASE NOTE THIS POSITION IS COVERING A LEAVE)

    Qualifications

    Education Background

    • Four to seven years of university study which leads to a baccalaureate, Master's, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy (DPT) from an American Physical Association-approved school.

    Licensure, Registration, Certification

    • Washington state physical therapist license required.Note: New graduates must be in the process of meeting state licensing requirements and must complete those requirements by the deadline established by the Director.
    • CPR certification preferred

    Special Training/Skills 

    • Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit/department.

    Work Experience 

    • No experience required.

    Physical Abilities 

    • Ability to transfer and transport patients safely using proper body mechanics. 
    • Able to move about the hospital as much as four miles/day. 

    Physical Demand Level:  Heavy

    In an 8-hour workday, must be able to-

    Lift / Carry

    50 to 100 pounds occasionally

    25 to 50 pounds frequently

    10 to 20 pounds constantly

     

    As required, must be able to-

    Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Squat, Kneel, Crawl, Climb and Reach above shoulders

    Push and Pull

    Perform fine motor functions

    Must possess functional vision, hearing, and speech in order to communicate effectively with clients, client advocates, and staff.
