    Responsible for providing assistance to the physical therapist in the delivery of physical therapy services to patients; and in the daily operational functions of the department.

    Essential Functions

    • Assist Physical Therapists with patient exercises, treatments and modalities under 100% supervision and direction of the Physical Therapist
    • Integrates AIDET principles into all patient related encounters
    • Accurately records services as directed by the Physical Therapist
    • Maintain patient records in a private and compliant manner, observing all appropriate HIPPA regulations
    • Knowledge of emergency supplies and infectious and hazardous materials as prescribed by Federal and State law
    • Maintain safe and clean working environment; keep clinic organization and appropriate inventory levels functional
    • Assists with clerical tasks such as telephone, recording accurate messages, obtaining insurance verification and documenting on appropriate forms


    Education Background

    • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education/experience

    Licensure, Registration, Certification

    • Completion of College Level Anatomy and Physiology

    Special Training/Skills

    • Ability to monitor vital signs, maintains adequate knowledge base regarding cardiovascular and respiratory precautions for the patient undergoing physical medicine services and treatments.
    • Ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. 
    • Must utilize one or more Epic applications to deliver and track patient care
    • Ability to satisfactorily complete Rehabilitation Aide Competency Evaluation and job training

    Work Experience

    • No experience necessary.

    Physical Abilities

    • Ability to transfer and transport patients safely using proper body mechanics.  May ambulate as much as four miles/day. 

    Physical Demand Level:  Heavy
    In an 8-hour workday, must be able to-
    ü  Lift / Carry
    50 to 100 pounds occasionally
    25 to 50 pounds frequently
    10 to 20 pounds constantly

    As required, must be able to-
    Sit, Stand, Walk, Bend, Squat, Kneel, Crawl, Climb and Reach above shoulders
    Push and Pull
    Perform fine motor functions
    Must possess functional vision, hearing, and speech in order to communicate effectively with clients, client advocates, and staff.
